Artifact Description:
Pinterest is a social media site that allows for the sharing and discovering of resources for educators. These resources can be projects, poster ideas, classroom ideas, websites, and many other resources. To create a professional account, I had to favorite boards that relate to education and mathematics such that education material would appear. I created 3 of the boards above, resources for students, resources for content, and resources for pedagogy. On each of these boards are resources and ideas for either students, content, or pedagogy. I also created other boards for algebra, geometry, and calculus for teaching ideas of tricks or projects specific to those subjects. These boards are more broad. The last board, EDUC 204 TOI, is a board that I am collaborating on with many other students from Grove City College to create a collection of resources for teachers. With all of these boards, other educators or I can go onto Pinterest and brainstorm ideas as well as share ideas and be inspired from other's work. These boards help educators think outside the box from looking at other resources or images. This fits into component 1D because it shows the knowledge of resources for students, content, and pedagogy, which are the three elements for 1D.
Artifact Reflection:
Pinterest is a helpful social media site that seems to not end. There is never a limit to the amount of pins that can be searched. It was easy to get on and continue pinning by going from one idea to another because everything on Pinterest is linked to at least one other thing on Pinterest. If I were to do this again, I would make boards more particular. For example, have boards for algebra, geometry, calculus, high school pedagogy, middle school pedagogy, etc. The more the boards are organized, the easier it will be to go back and use later on. Pinterest ties into educational psychology because it demonstrates knowledge of resources which are helpful in finding ways to reach students with different intelligences because it demonstrates different ways to do the same activity. In my future classroom, I can use the ideas from Pinterest for teaching different subjects regarding more hands on experiences. I can also use the pedagogy blogs and advice when I have students that are not behaving and I need ideas as to how to handle the situation.
