Educators must know their students in all ways. They must know their strengths, where they need to improve, culture, interests, necessary adaptations, and development.

Component 1B is important because if teachers do not know their students then they cannot properly teach them. Teachers must know how to engage students and help them succeed.

If language or lack of previous knowledge is a problem, then learning is greatly impaired. |
4 - Knowledge of Students' Interests and Cultural Heritage
Students' interest and culture will affect the way they are in the classroom, which is important to know. |
5 - Knowledge of Students' Special Needs
Teachers must know how to help all learners which includes adapting for special needs. |
