Designing student assessment focuses on creating assessments for all students through formative and summative assessment, which may include using rubrics.
Why is it important?
Component 1F is important because teachers must be able to use assessment of and for learning. Assessments must demonstrate students' understanding as well as the teachers' proper use of assessments.

Elements
1 - Congruence with Instructional Outcomes
Assessments must be connected with outcomes and must be adapted for all learners. |
2 - Criteria and Standards
Teachers must clearly set expectations for students that they understand and can contribute to. |
3 - Design of Formative Assessment
Assessments are planned throughout the lesson. The teacher uses the information from the assessments to guide learning. |
4 - Use for Planning
The teacher needs to use the data from assessments to plan for future lessons. |
