Artifact Description:
Quizalize is a formative assessment tool that uses point values to help motivate the students. Students receive points for answering correctly and in a timely fashion. Students can complete the quiz at different times. They know if they got the answer right or wrong and which is the correct answer. At the end of the quiz, they are ranked. All of the scores are saved to the teacher's dashboard so the teacher can retrieve them at a later time. This tool allows for pictures to be prompts to questions. The questions are multiple choice answers and the student picks the block with the correct answer. To create this artifact, I created an account then created a quiz. It was easy to create and had directions as you walked through the creation process. To use this, I will send the link to my students as well as the code. If we are doing this activity in class, I will display the information on the board as students complete the activity at their desks. After students take the assessment, I can access their scores on the teacher dashboard at any time. With this information, I can decipher which students are struggling with the concept and which students can move on. This fits into component 3D because it is a formative assessment tool. It also fits into 3 and 4 because students receive feedback on their progress immediately and they can individually assess their progress.
Artifact Reflection:
Creating the quizalize was simple. It was difficult to create a quizalize for the topic because many of the problems deal with calculations, but it is good for concepts. If I were to do this again, I would use a different topic that lends itself to quick responses. This artifact relates to educational psychology because it engages the students in the learning and they get excited from doing this activity. In my future classroom, I can use it for graph recognition or testing understanding of overall concepts.
