Component 1C: Setting Instructional Outcomes
What is it?
Instructional outcomes help students understand what they will know or be able to do by the end of the lesson. Teachers must make sure that these outcomes connect back to standards and the curriculum.
Why is it important?
Component 1C is important because it provides a focus for learning and the ability for students to learn. It also helps students understand that the topics will go more in depth and help the information become cross curricular.

Elements
1 - Value, Sequence, and Alignment
Outcomes must represent the important information being taught and how it relates to standards. High expectations should also be reflected and the lessons should be in logical order. |
2 - Clarity
Students understand the outcomes and the outcomes are assessed in a variety of ways. |
3 - Balance
There should be a variety of outcomes that deepens learning such as analyzing information. The outcomes should be in the category of knowledge, skills, or dispositions. |
4 - Suitability for Diverse Learners
Outcomes are specific to students' needs and are the main focus of assessments. |
